P.O.S.T. (Propietary-Open Source Techniques): Firefly Symbology in ArcGIS and QGIS

Join us for a Thursday “P.O.S.T.” – The Centroid’s new casual and collaborative learning event where we compare Proprietary and Open Source Techniques.

Our first POST session will feature a small cartography project, exploring Firefly symbology in both QGIS and ArcGIS Pro.
3:30 pm in the Geospatial Centroid lab, 211G Morgan Library
- You will need some basic ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS skills, and a desire to experiment, explore, and share. Bring a laptop if you have one, with ArcGIS Pro and QGIS installed.
- We’ll provide some data to play with, computers if you can’t bring your own, and some snacks.
- We’ll be using these Firefly resources to explore cartography and make a layout

Each session, we’ll work with a different theme or dataset, and explore how to work with it in two different GIS platforms.
ArcGIS? QGIS? R? Python? Google Earth Engine?
Project/Dataset topic will be announced the week before each event.
