Seminar: Post-fire recovery and management using GIS
October 26, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
How is GIS being used in the aftermath of the Cameron Peak Fire? How are areas at high risk to mudslides and debris flow determined?
Join us on Tuesday, Oct. 26th from 12 – 1pm for learn about the GIS modeling used for Cameron Peak Fire recovery efforts:
A Watershed Perspective to Post-Fire Modeling and Response – A Cameron Peak Case Study
Presented by Allie Rhea, Research Associate for the Colorado Forest Restoration Institute.
Watch over Zoom or with the group in Morgan Library Rm 110A (This new conference room is on the first floor south of the courtyard. Enter the library through the main doors, walk all the way around the courtyard to the south east side of the building. Follow the signs for 110A)
Presentation description:
As the Cameron Peak Fire surpassed historical records, a network of scientists, consultants, and practitioners came together to strategize immediate response. With such a big fire footprint and limited resources, post-fire treatments would need to be targeted. This talk will provide an overview of the immediate post-fire watershed response and outline some of the spatial modeling tools used in the treatment prioritization process.
