The Spatial Revolution: Re-imagining snow hydrology, avalanche science, & recreation in the new era of high-resolution data
Dr. Jeff Deems
Research Scientist at the CIRES National Snow and Ice Data Center, University of Colorado and Co-Founder and CTO of Airborne Snow Observatories, Inc.
Dr. Deems will discuss the latest and greatest in measuring snow depth and mapping avalanche risk using LiDAR and SAR, and how these cutting-edge technologies succeed where legacy methodologies fell short. After this presentation you’ll be looking at your favorite snow-covered mountain with a subtler eye.
This event is a joint effort between the Geospatial Centroid and the NR493 GIS/Remote Sensing Seminar course.
